E-2 Visa Franchise Investment on the Franchise Hot Seat Podcast
How a FranServe Panel Led to the Franchise Hot Seat
I have spent more than a decade in the franchise industry, helping prospective business owners evaluate franchise opportunities. Along the way, working with foreign nationals seeking to invest in a U.S. franchise under the E-2 Treaty Investor Visa program has become one of the areas of my practice that I am most passionate about.
In July 2026, I had the opportunity to bring that experience to the stage at the FranServe Convention, where I participated in a panel discussion that included the topic of E-2 Visa franchise investment.

The audience included franchisors, franchise consultants, and other professionals from across the franchising industry. During the session, I shared some of the lessons I have learned from assisting foreign investors through the franchise selection and investment process.
One of the people in attendance that day was Dr. John P. Hayes, the Titus Chair for Franchise Leadership at Palm Beach Atlantic University and one of the leading voices in franchising in the United States.
The subject caught his attention.
That conversation led to an invitation to join Dr. Hayes on Franchise Hot Seat, his YouTube podcast series, to talk further about my experience working with E-2 Visa franchise investors.
Two Levels of Complexity
When assisting an E-2 Visa investor, there are two levels of complexity that need to be addressed.
The first is the business level. We need to identify a franchise that makes sense for the investor based on their experience, goals, financial resources, desired market, and ability to operate the business successfully.
The second is the immigration level. The investment and implementation of the business also need to satisfy the requirements of the E-2 Visa process.
Both need to work.
A franchise may be a great business opportunity but not practical for a particular E-2 strategy. Likewise, a business may check the immigration boxes but be a poor fit for the investor.
This intersection between franchise investment and E-2 immigration strategy was at the center of my conversation with Dr. Hayes.

Considering a Franchise for an E-2 Visa?
At Franchise Wizards, we help prospective E-2 investors identify and evaluate franchise opportunities based on their background, goals, financial profile, desired market, and individual circumstances.
Our franchise consulting services are provided at no cost to prospective investors.
Franchise Wizards and its representatives do not provide legal or immigration advice. A qualified U.S. immigration attorney must be retained before the final stages of the franchise discovery process and prior to formalizing a franchise investment. We assist candidates in communicating the nature of the franchise business model to their immigration attorney for review under the E-2 Visa investment requirements before any formal commitment is made. If a candidate has not yet retained an immigration attorney, we can provide referrals to licensed immigration professionals. All matters related to visa eligibility, immigration strategy, sources of funds and legal requirements are handled directly by the candidate’s immigration attorney.
